Ever heard about TED? And no, I am not talking about `how I met your
mother`. If you have, awesome, if you haven’t you should totally check it out.
TED is a non-profit organisation trying to spread great and inspiring ideas
around the world. They invite all kinds of people to talk at their events and
share videos on their page (link below). From disabled people, to teachers, to
artists, to models and so on and so on, they all want to share their view of
the world and experience with others. They want to inspire, change your point
of view, motivate and so much more. Some
of those people give you hope, others challenge you to think about a certain
topic and some have a breath taking, mind blowing story to tell. They all have
visions and dreams and the best is that they are all just people like you and
me, people you can relate to.
If that wasn’t enough to make you at least a little bit curious it is also a
great page for my fellow English students to improve their listening skills.
Most of the videos on their page are pretty short and as there are also a ton
of different people talking about different topics you will most certainly find
some that interest you. The great thing about those videos is, that most of
them (if not all) have a transcript AND subtitles. So if you aren’t feeling
quite comfortable with one of the speakers or think you didn’t get something,
you can just look at the transcript or turn on the subtitles. There is a lot
more to discover on the TED page so just go and take a look, you might find
something interesting.
